Is it “Chicken & Dumplings” or “Chicken & Dumplins'”? In my family, we call ’em “Chicken & Dumplins'” because we are Southern folks around these parts. I even married a Southern guy and his family says, “Chicken & Dumplins'”! Whatever you call ’em, they are the most comforting bowl of goodness that money can buy in my opinion!! My great Aunt showed me how to make them and I thought that she always made them from scratch. Well, after she shared her little secret with me, I was overjoyed! She says, chile’ if you want a no-fail dumplin’, you take these sto-bought biscuits right c’here, tear ’em to pieces and drop ’em in. No worries about your dumplins’ coming out soggy or doughy…eeeekkkk!! Haha!! Love it! And there you have it…Auntee’s No Fail Chicken & Dumplins’! Oh and we also use drummettes and leave in the skin and bones so I guess we’re ALL guilty of being seriously country. 🙂
I know that it’s starting to warm up already here in the MidWest but I just couldn’t let the winter season go by without making this yummy bowl of No Fail Chicken & Dumplins’ for the hubby. They are probably on his Top 5 List of dishes for me to make him. Will’s Favorite Beef Neck Bones is definitely #1!! My Southern Style Mac and Cheese and Sweet Potato Pecan Pie definitely make the list as well. What’s that saying? You can take the boy outta the country but you can never take the country outta the boy!! Remember that he is “country as buttermilk.” but I love him that way! Kisses Baby!!! 😉
You know, you may have faced past failures in your family, in your marriage, in your job, or in your finances. But don’t lie and wallow in your past failures with feelings of guilt, shame, and doubt for He remembers your failures no more (Hebrews 10:17). Take responsibility for your actions, come clean to others involved, repent to receive forgiveness, get over it and be FREE!
He’ll even help us to get it right next time if we trust Him, listen and walk in obedience. His Word says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV). So as you enjoy Auntee’s No Fail Chicken & Dumplins’ this week, remember that we serve a “No Fail” God. “He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord” – 1 Chronicles 28:20 (KJV). Say Grace and enjoy!

Ahhh, yes! Chicken and dumplings! This bowl full of goodies looks delicious. I love the shortcuts — this makes it so easy to throw the soup together on a weeknight. I’m a no-chicken-skin “city gal,” though. I’m going to have to forego the drummettes!
Felesha says
Haha! I get it! Of course, you can substitute chicken thighs or breast then de-skin and debone after boiling. 🙂
