A homemade salted caramel sauce that is sure to change your entire outlook on life!!!
Ok. How many times have you seen something on this blog that is preceded by the phrase “Salted Caramel”? Let’s see…there’s Salted Caramel Chicken & Waffles, Salted Caramel Shortbread Bars, Salted Caramel-Pecan Apple Slab, Salted Caramel Sweetie Buns, Salted Caramel Apples, and Salted Caramel Cheesecake Brownies. Now can you read into my obsession with said goodness?!?! I’m such a fan that I’d drink it through a straw if it wasn’t just plain weird! 🙂 And I guess swimming in it is totally out of the question? 🙂
So0000, since I use it so much and since today is National Caramel Day, I thought it deserved it’s own dedicated post. Not only is it great for pouring over your desserts or even your favorite ice cream, it’s great for dipping too! I find myself dipping and dipping and dipping until I realize that the entire jar is almost GONE! WARNING: Don’t be like me folks. Well, at least not until you’ve finished your dinner!! 🙂 Although, Salted Caramel sounds like the perfect meal to me!! 🙂
It’s buttery, it’s sweet and it’s salty all in the same spoonful of goodness! With only four ingredients, it’s so fast and easy to pull together. So skip the store-bought stuff and make your very own Salted Caramel Goodness. Speaking of goodness, I start to think of the Psalm 34:8 scripture, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” His goodness is so personal in that He meets our individual needs with it. This same goodness draws us closer and closer to Him and in turn causes us to share His goodness with others. In what ways has God been good to you this week? Say Grace and enjoy!! 🙂
Salted Caramel Goodness
Ingredients
- 1 c. white sugar
- 6 T. butter cut
- 1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp. fleur de sel or flaky sea salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, cook the sugar until it melts completely and becomes light amber gold. This parts a little tricky as if it gets too dark, it wlll solidify faster as it cools.
- Once you get the right color, add in the pats of butter. It will bubble up really nicely to let you know it's working. Allow the butter to melt completely for about a minute.
- Pour in the heavy cream and allow it to bubble up once again. Yep! It's working.
- Let it boil for about 30 seconds. Remove from the heat.
- Stir in the fleur de sel to combine. Say Grace and enjoy!!

Today, I was just writing how much I love caramel. Granted I was talking about dulce de leche, but I’m sucker for both. Your caramel sauce looks absolutely divine. I’m so trying it!!
